Holiday Gathering Quick-Start Guide
Holiday hosting gets overwhelming because the gathering is happening at the same time as shopping, decorating, work and everyday life.
The solution is not always to become more efficient at doing everything. Sometimes it is to decide what actually needs to be done at all.

Did You Think of This?
Which holiday traditions are meaningful — and which are you continuing only because you have always done them? You are allowed to simplify.
Spread the work out
- Early: date, guest list, invitations, menu direction, specialty orders
- 1–2 weeks: nonperishables, serving pieces, décor, gifts, activity supplies
- Final days: perishables, food prep, guest areas, room setup
- Event day: fresh food, beverage station, music/lighting and final guest areas
Thoughtful Touch
What will make people feel welcome? It may be a beautiful table, but it could also be a favorite cookie, comfortable seat, familiar music, a family tradition or a quiet moment honoring someone who is not there. Thoughtfulness does not have to mean complexity.
